First impressions

A bit of a blur, really.

Casablanca; getting lost and walking the wrong direction so missing the Medina completely but being helped by two great gentlemen. A well needed cocktail at the rooftop bar in our hotel.

A great train service, efficient and easy for two non-French speaking tourists to use, with decent coffee on the train and beautiful stations. Mint tea on our rooftop at the hotel.

And then the walk past theatres, through secret gardens and into the craziness of the Medina.

Marrakech; just amazing, crazy traffic with Moen’s everywhere, tiny bashed up taxis, roller skaters hanging into cars around roundabouts. Donkeys pulling carts as you walk bravely through the traffic hoping the cars will stop. Traditionally dressed people in long gowns and hijabs beside people in designer gear with gorgeous bags. The sun setting over the pink buildings of the Medina, as the market stalls kick off for the evening selling everything you can imagine and more. Chocolate filled with date paste, tagines of lamb and tagines of chicken with olives and preserved lemon, a breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt and pastries with good coffee.

Tomorrow is the first day of the tour, more updates then.
