Back home to the beach, and swimming

I came back to a crazy few weeks of solid work, and this weekend feels like the first time I’ve managed to catch my breath. The craziness is still happening but there’s long term plans in place and I can finally have a weekend off. Even better, a few days off in lieu of the extra days worked, so a four day weekend feels particularly luxurious.

Apart from work, it’s been hot here so the beach and swimming has been my standard refuge.

Completing the Coogee jetty to jetty swim, a friendly race where it’s competitive at the front but at the back it’s all about completing and having fun. How can it not be fun swimming towards a giant yellow duck called Daphne ?

Swimming at Cottesloe beach during the sculpture festival, on a hot sticky day. Watching the shoals of small fish swimming around and through the shark net.

The cats approving of the Berber rug ! They are convinced I bought it for them.

The holiday was fantastic, however as usual getting back to Perth, Fremantle and a job of incredible frustration at times but generous thanks and appreciation has reminded me of the depth of privilege in which I live. .
