End of a holiday

End of a holiday

On an airplane, again , on the way home. It’s been a much more peaceful and low key holiday than my normal activity-packed trips, and I do have to remember that much of the driver for this break was to rest. It’s not a waste, or shameful, to read a book and swim a little, at a beautiful beachside resort.

About the book … it’s a book I have been trying to read for around 5 months and only managed to finish with a few very focussed days. When is it acceptable to give up on a book ? It was beautifully written, and an intriguing storyline, but with characters with whom I couldn’t identify, and a twist I couldn’t fathom. Still, it felt like failure once I was over half way through, not to finish.

A week, of a little studying, a lot of reading, and a beautiful peaceful resort on a quiet beach. Time to enjoy the warmth without needing to do anything, other than struggle occasionally with my desire to explore and experience a new place.

A private pool and spacious outdoor patio did add to the peace and tranquility, and comfort in relaxation. The resort is lovely, and with genuinely friendly staff who made us feel very well looked after. Not my usual style, but certainly has a place for a truly peaceful break.

Thailand and the Thai people are warm and generous. I love understand that we are tourists spending money in the country and it’s very service focussed, however there is a generosity of spirit that’s very welcoming.

Now back to a change in pace, studying and back to work.
