A couple of days in Plymouth, with a crazy mixture of sun and incredibly heavy rain. We walked along the coast path, found a couple of pubs and a gin distillery, swam at the Lido which is in the process of refurbishment. A highlight was a ferry trip over to Cremyll, walking through gardens and to a house straight out of Jane Austen.

Plymouth is a city of contrasts, lovely old buildings dating back to mid 1500’s, a soulless city centre , cosy pubs and cafes, industrial dreary wasteland, faded holiday destination glory, a vibrant port with ferries and naval vessels and yachts everywhere, impoverished rundown suburbs. I enjoyed our couple of days but happy to be leaving.
