The train line from Kandy to Ella is deserving of its position in Top 10 train rides, it’s spectacular, something I have always wanted to do but never dreamed it would be possible.

So British, the train stations and the trains and the tea guy coming through, except it was Sri Lankan chai on offer . Speaking of tea, hardly surprising one of the best cups of tea I’ve ever had was at the tea plantation we visited that day.

Today, more fabulous views from a peak near Ella, and a walk to see one of the British built bridges still in use today. We ziplined down the peak ! It’s a lot of effort for a very short thrill, but such fun.

A lovely dinner in Ella tonight, which as a very touristed and Western environment was a bit of a culture shock after our last few days of Sri Lankan cultural immersion.
Tomorrow, Yala National Park and wildlife viewing if we are lucky.
