Yala National Park, I’ll let the photographs tell the story

The leopard photograph didn’t come out clearly, however we had a long sighting, as he (or she) lazed, then stretched, then ambled off into the bush. Just a magnificent creature.
As for other types of leopards , well the place we stayed for one of the three nights; The Funky Leopard otherwise known as the Shonky Leopard ! What a truly terrible place, so bad we decided to write off two nights accomodation money and find somewhere else
- No aircon in three of the four rooms, which made them virtually uninhabitable
- Despite offering to pay the uplift, not being allowed the two available empty rooms with aircon
- On pleading, being allowed to use one of the rooms but only for one night
- Monkeys playing in the pool and shitting in it. On asking for the pool to be cleaned or at least a net to clean it ourselves, nothing happening
- Showers not working
- One door room not closing
- Same food offered ( identical) for the second night and from a different glamping site; not the a la carte or buffet offered on the website
- Totally disorganised check in and they had no memory of the Tori we’d booked. To be fair, the safari tour booked through the same company was excellent see photographs above
The list goes on … so we booked another, lovely, hotel and on making it clear we were leaving were offered the air con rooms !
Too late, we moved to the other hotel and have had a beautiful, peaceful day at the pool, watching sunset, drinking cocktails and relishing the genuine friendliness we’ve encountered in so many places in Sri Lanka.
