East coast scenery

East coast scenery

The east coast of Tasmania is spectacular. Clear water, granite hills, sweeping bays, all with small towns and winding roads scattered between the headlands. It’s such a change, after the wide and boring roads of WA, to actively drive.

The walk up to the viewpoint was well worth the effort, for a spectacular view over to Wineglass Bay.

Today has been a slow day of exploring the Bay of Fires area, avoiding a very pungent dead seal on the beach, and yet more good food.

Tomorrow, the drive to Launceston.

Today, I practised jumping and leaping by between rocks and onto the beach. Not big jumps and very low rocks, but it’s all part of re-educating my body and mind back into movement patterns in which it used to be comfortable. The MS took much of that movement from me, and nearly a decade of limited motion has imposed mental boundaries as well as physical. So these small changes, if I can maintain them, can accumulate to being able to walk up to a viewpoint then down again, albeit slowly with walking sticks, then go easy rock hopping the next day.

  1. Good progress Jen. Love the east coast – will have a few days in Launceston in November so let us know if any good coffee shops, pubs, places to go etc.
You are so right about retraining your brain as well as your body xx
