Sudden, sad trip back to the UK

Heading back to the UK tomorrow, as Andy’s mother has passed away. It wasn’t unexpected, but still a shock when a family member leaves us forever. Now there are the rituals of a funeral, a wake, a will to be read, a home to be cleared for sale; the tidying up of a life.

I will be honest, I am not looking forward to British winter weather, rain, wind and early dark. I went swimming this morning, so below a few photographs of the beautiful beach close to home. We will be holding on to the colours and warmth, the light and brightness, in the middle of a Northern Hemisphere winter.

Some thoughtful words Andy was sent just after his mother left us;

May the universe treat her soul gently passing from this realm to the next. May you grieve gently. Let’s pray for all of us sons who must one day say a final goodbye to our mothers.
