Trains, planes & automobiles

Trains, planes & automobiles

Buzzing train stations, getting from Heathrow to Paddington far faster than anticipated, bringing my train booking forward and chatting with a lovely, rather crazy English couple sitting opposite me on the 4 hour trip to Plymouth.

So now sitting in the train, watching the gentle English countryside rolling past and my travel companion doing a cryptic crossword. This after bad coffee from the refreshment trolley and very good sushi from Paddington Station.

The automobile part of the trip, well a cricket-crazy Pakistani Uber driver yesterday who talked to me all trip to Perth airport about the philosophy of the Australian cricket team, and his view of how fluid the definition of ‘home’ can be, and how religion, class, race and family all play into that definition. Today, Andy picking me up for the final part of my trip from Fremantle to Plymouth.
