This woman is the graduate I worked with every day, since February. We drank coffee while planning the week ahead, and tea while reviewing the week. We swapped chia pudding ( my contribution) and roasted beetroot hummus ( her contribution), we shared lunch occasionally when one of us had brought in something really good.
She’s 23; I can’t bring myself to use the past tense yet. She couldn’t swim, and a small consolation is knowing she was knocked unconscious as she was swept off the rocks into the surging water. So she may have been spared the horror of a conscious drowning.
Too young. Way too soon. My heart hurts right now.
