There's a symmetry to the timing that I'm going to Russia exactly four years after doing my Camino. I'll be there approximately 3 weeks after I started walking, and get him just before I finished walking. One of the main reasons I'm undertaking this treatment is to get my walking back, to whatever level is … Continue reading Symmetry

The money has been paid
The money has been paid, and received by the hospital ! Thanks to the international banking system, it took 2 days with a rather nasty exchange rate but very secure. This all seems rather more real now.
Social media
I have a love and hate relationship with social media. I hate the intrusion into everyday life, and as anyone who has had dinner here knows, looking at mobile phones while at the dinner table I find incredibly rude. Basically it's saying to me that Facebook, or your texts, or Twitter, is more important to … Continue reading Social media
Camino de Santiago 2014
Four years ago, I walked the Camino, 1000 km approximate from the French-Spanish border to the western most point of Spain. This was one of the most amazing experiences and journeys for me, challenging and exciting, peaceful and companionable, through Spanish villages, rolling countryside and along medieval paths trodden for centuries. Food
Delicious food nourishes not only the body, but the soul as well. I love browsing, and finding, cool food shops with unusual ingredients. Food is a necessity, we … Continue reading Food

Fatigue
I made a stupid mistake this week. I worked to about 6:30pm on Tuesday, thinking I needed to complete a document for an important meeting at work on Thursday. On Wednesday I was wiped out, so tired I had to go home early. On Thursday the meeting went really well, and would have been fine … Continue reading Fatigue
Russia
I saw this beautiful photograph of Moscow today, which is where I'll be in a very few weeks now. So, to capture where I am with the organisation and planning required ... Application for treatment; I applied for this treatment early June, or maybe end of May, after a very bad weekend. That weekend, my … Continue reading Russia
Fremantle Sunday
A quiet, windy and occasionally sunny Sunday in Fremantle, reminding me why I live in this dry, dusty, far flung big town on the edge of the Pacific, thousands of miles from anywhere. I swam 10 lengths before getting a bit cold, happy with that as I haven't swum for a couple of months. My … Continue reading Fremantle Sunday
